    Hallo everyone.
I was wondering if anyone here knows how to translate into Italian the expression "Garden/gardening leave".
I would translate it as: "Cessazione obbligatoria dell'attività", or "mobilità interamente retribuita", but maybe there's a specific expression in Italian that I am missing...
    Thanks to everybody!

    Ciao,
sto traducendo un articolo sull'amministrazione Roosevelt (in tedesco), e c'è un passaggio in cui si dice che Roosevelt impone la Zwangsurlaub (letteralmente vacanza obbligatoria) alle banche. Il corrispettivo è Garden Leave, ma non mi pare ci sia un corrispondente preciso in italiano.

I am not sure that "Zwangsurlaub" is the same as "Garden Leave". After a holiday ("Urlaub") one usually resumes employment with the same employer.
In the case of garden leave, however, the individual has ceased to work for his/her employer and intends to find new employment. During the period of garden leave, he/she receives his/her normal salary but is prevented from taking up new employment. When the period ends, he/she is free to move on.

Right. So I decided to translate as "sospensione obbligatoria dell'attività (per alcuni giorni)".
    Thank you!!

    Light,

Does the word "sospensione" imply that the activity will resume? If so, it is inappropriate for Garden Leave.

Yes, the activity will resume, but the original word was German (Zwangsurlaub), which I thought could be translated with Garden Leave. Of course that was inappropriate!!

Ciao, sembra che il Garden leave non c'entri :)

Roosevelt ........Istituì una “vacanza bancaria” di quattro giorni (Bank Holiday), due giorni dopo aver assunto l'incarico: quattro giorni in cui tutte le banche del paese rimasero chiuse, permettendo alle istituzioni un breve periodo per riprendersi e riorganizzarsi.

    Thanks you all.
Alla fine ho deciso per sospensione dell'attività per alcuni giorni, Garden Leave mi aveva proprio fuorviato!!
