    Hello everyone :)

i want to say in MSA: she had to (he insisted) give him the passport, but she wasn't obliged(didn't have to) to do it
can I say: innaha kana 7laha an tuaitihu jawaz assafar, walakinha lam takun yajib an tuaitihu?

correction in arabic is much appreciated :)

    Hello :)
You can say :

Thank you Crimson, but could you give a translation precisely with had to and didnt have to, rather than with insist, cause I'd like to grasp those 2 :)
like: she had to give, but she must not

i just want to understand how to say I had to and I shouldn't have

    I had to ~ كان عليَّ

Oh, one more thing, is shouldn't have to the same as didnt have to in arabic? Since your suggestion with yajibu seems like didnt have to

I think we can also say:
