He wants to have his cake and eat it too

    Is there an idiomatic proverb in Spanish similar to "He wants to have his cake and eat it too"? Not necessarily the same words but the same idea.

    After reading the thread mentioned by The Prof, and in this specific example, I would suggest Él quiere tenerlo todo (that is, he's not willing to give up any of the available options, although some of them are clearly mutually exclusive).

    La frase equivalente de "wanting to have your cake and eating it too" en español es "querer quedarse con el pan y con la torta". :)
