    (his distraught brother said that)

    su deshecho hermano o su hermano deshecho ...dijo que...

    Neither "su deshecho hermano" nor "su hermano deshecho" sound completely natural...

    Here you have some options:
    Su hermano, totalmente desconsolado / deshecho / abatido / desalentado / consternado, dijo que...

    If you are a novelist, 'su deshecho hermano' is a good figure of speech.
