    Hi,
Is there anybody who can me describe the evolution of the Latin alphabet?
I would like to ask for a timeline with approximate years of appearance and disappearance of Roman letters.
I know that the digamma Ϝ has disappered from the Greek one in the preclassic era [when?] so some letter might have been disapperead from the Roman set, too.
I have an uncertain knowledge: C developed from G in the republic, an emperorr inserted some letters [who and which ones?].
Why was V used for a vowel and a consonant?
    K came from Greek [snobism?].
    J, U and W are medieval additions, aren't they?

    TIA
    Regards
    Ferenc
