I acknowledge receipt of your letter

    Hi,

    I want to say "I acknowledge receipt of your letter of 12 February", but I'm not sure if you actually have such expressions in French. Does the translation below sound bizarre to you? If not, when would you use it?

    J'accuse réception de votre lettre du 12 février.

    THe french expression is currently used. It is for formal (or administrative) letter
