What is the difference between I hate you and I loathe you?

Are they synonymous? Which verb is more common or emphatic?

Is it usual/common to use the verb " Loathe" in speech?

    I will appreciate your help!

"I hate you" es "Te odio", mientras que "I loathe you" es "Te detesto / Me repugnas".
