    Hi all!

I'm writing my cover letter, and I'm in urgent need of help. I find trouble continuing the introductory phrase "I'm writing to apply for the position of X...". I should go on "...as advertised in X".

The thing is, the job wasn't actually advertised, but sent to me by email. So how should I state this?

Maybe: "as advertised in the X Mailing list"??

I'm having a hard time here, would anyone be so kind as to help me out?

    Thanks!

    Mara.-

I would put "I am applying for the position of X stated in email I recieved."

    Hi Mara,
Would you consider changing the form of your reply. Maybe something like:
In response to your e-mail notice, I am writing to apply for the position of _________.
