Hi all, An Italian friend read the following English "joke" on a website: 'It is a terrible thing... to be at the mercy of the English weather. If anyone has a private jet, let me know. A yacht would also suffice.' They asked me for a translation in order for them to be able to understand the humorous side of it! My attempt is: 'È una cosa terribile... essere alla mercé del tempo Inglese. Se qualcuno ha un jet privato, fammi sapere. Uno yacht sarebbe anche sufficiente' However, I'm unsure about my syntax in the last clause? Also, I found various translations for the phrase 'to be at the mercy of' qualcosa and I wondered whether the one I have chosen is the most appropriate? Thanks for any help you can provide.
