    Hi there;

    I've just come across this sentence; ""It speaks to me"

    Context: A picture of several people at work looking tired, and then the question; "do you think it speaks to a lot of people?"
    Does it question whether people might see themselves in the picture regarding their own job?

    Other context: You're looking at a drawing and say "It speaks to me" . Does that mean that is inspiring, like the opposite of "it leaves me cold"?

    Thanks in advance

    Interpretaría como "tiene significado para mí".

    Yes, I have the same impression as you do. Something like "(El cuadro) me dice algo".

    Coloquialmente, también se suele oír (el cuadro) me llega.

    La foto es tan real (lively) que pareciera hablarme. It is so vivid/lively the picture that it speasks to me.

    ¿Se puede decir: La foto me toca?

    En mi opinión, sí: con el sentido de la foto tiene un efecto sobre mí. En mi tierra se entendería sin problemas.

    Un saludo
