( I noticed a painting hanging on the wall (of the mueseum)

Hanging on - ??? how do you say that?
and also 'expose' is it appropriate ... for exhbited ....does that make sense???

un tableau au mur. It seems redundant to say that it's attached and that it's being exhibited, as it is in an art gallery and these facts can be assumed.:)

    Hmmm..yes that's true..lol..Thanks for your help!
But anyway how do you say ' to hang' as in talking about hanging pictures on walls ?

I'd say "hung (on)" would translate as "accroché (à)" (same for "hanging")

    Hello Katrina,

Actually, I think we would simply say :
"J'ai remarqué un tableau sur le mur"
(the fact it is on the wall implies it is hanged -especially in a museum- and there is no need to be redundant)

Anyway, your proposal is fine and clever (except for a little detail) :
j'ai remarqué un tableau (qui était) exposé sur le mur
(I would suppress the "qui était" to make the sentence "lighter")

    Sorry Natalya,

"Accroché au mur" is indeed better than "accroché sur le mur"

    Hello Natalya,

    Your choices :

"J'ai remarqué un tableau sur le mur"
    or
"J'ai remarqué un tableau accroché au mur"

    Bye
    B.
