    "J'aurais bien voulu" is the title of a song by Babylon Circus, I think it is "I would really like..." Can anyone tell me if I'm right? Thank you.

    Or, to include the "bien", "I really would have liked to ...", but it strikes me that the phrase can stand by itself as an answer or a thought, whereas the English leaves something hanging.

    It can stand alone only as an answer to some explicit possibility, to be prosaic, although it can be used as such to evoke a sentimental memory, but I guess that's true of the French as well.
