    Hi there,

    Can anyone suggest what 'lámina' might be in the following context (and bearing in mind it's from a 19th century text):

    Es un gasto imprudente adornar "todas las habitaciones con láminas y espejos de cuerpo entero".

    I translated it merely as pictures. Will this do or do you think something more specific is needed.

    Las láminas eran dibujos realizados sobre planchas de metal, a diferencia de los cuadros pintados sobre lienzo (canvas).

    Ahora mismo no caigo en cómo se dice en inglés...

    lo que pasa es que no se si se utilizarían para decorar las paredes de una casa, por eso la duda

    What about glass engraving, could it be that? Later on in the text she says that if children play in the room these 'laminas' might shatter or get spoiled.

    No, para cristal no se usaría lámina porque el cristal no se puede laminar. Piensa que el material de las láminas más habitual era el cobre (copper), que se puede abollar muy fácilmente.
