"San Franciso de Asís llevó un pesebre viviente a una cueva"

I am having trouble with "pesebre viviente" in English.

Dictionary says manger or crib, but that can't be living.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,A

Well, one legend is that St. Francis created the first nativity scene in a cave and that the statute of the infant miraculously came to life. I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Maybe it's just "took a real manger to a cave"? I have no idea though.

    Dearest Alacant,

You are fast becoming to me a comforting presence on WR.

When I think of pesebre (viviente o no), I think of a Nativity scene (which is usually not a living thing). Could it be a live Nativity?

Maybe it's nativity scene? I am still not sure though.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the new posts when I posted this.

Thank you all my friends who are supposedly divided from me by a common language.

Live nativity scene will go perfectly.

There may be more on this subject!
