My bicycle has been stolen in Ireland and I need to describe it to the police. How can I say the bicycle has 5 "marchas" and 3 "platos"
Can I use the word gear for marchas?

Haciendo una búsqueda por internet por 'plata de bicicleta', lo que se llaman en inglés es chainrings (las ruedas con dientes que conectan a los pedales).

    I've got one. I say.

Five rear sprockets and three chainrings----15 speed.

For bicycles we usually say "speeds".

There are variations. Sometimes "cogs" for "sprockets"."chainwheels for "chainrings"

    I speak BE.

I hope you get it back.

    Good luck.
