According to Black's Dicitionary, it is a temporary process available to a plantiff in a civil action, which secures him against loss, irreparable injury, dissipation of the property, etc. while the action is pending. Such includes teh remedies of injunction, appointment of a receiver, attachment or arrest.

    Saludos

Posting the original sentence would help. In the meantime, I suggest that you translate it as "precautionary measures".

According to the Ariel Diccionario de Términos Jurídicos, the correct translation is "precautionary measures", with "protective measures" also being of use.

    saludos.
