minimal pairs

    A question concerning linguistics is minimal pairs same as minimal set please?

    I've never heard of minimal set, but minimal pairs are pairs of words which differ in only one sound, used to demonstrate which sounds have distinctive function and, thus, are separate phonemes.

    Yes, I have seen both to mean the same thing but the latter is not nearly as common as the former.
