Modelo de carro - Model of car
Marca de carro - Make of car

    Little question:
Would we say "car model".... I tried saying it aloud, but it didn't sound right...

Marca y modelo son make and model (of a car).

    Hola José,
Una curiosidad del inglés de los EEUU....omitimos el ''de".

Decimos 'model car' por 'model of car' o "car model', e igual con make.

ejemplo: What model car do you drive? ¿Qué modelo de carro/coche/auto tienes?

    Tienes razón..

    modelo de carro=car model/model car
    marca de carro=brand (of) car/make

"Make" es distinto con carros. Con lo demás, como pasta dental, champú, etc., sería "brand".

Yo pensé también que brand era lo más correcto para "marca" ;)

In AmE this is a fact with no reason that I know. Although "model car" is used as mentioned, I would not recommend using it because it is hard to use it correctly. If you ask a person "what is your model car?" they simply would not understand you. "What is the make/model of your car?" is perfectly understood and is the way most people ask this question.
