can anyone give me a hint?

A guy speaking of a not agreable man says :
"If he was an animal, he’d be a mongoose."
Does "mongoose" have a special meaning in England? Something like a man chasing women too much?
    Thank you!

Un mongoose è un'animale distruttivo che per la maggiore parte mangia i toppi. Puo leggere più qui (Buona notte! Sono le undici qui a San Francisco!)

A mongoose is famous for its ability to eat dangerous, poisonous snakes (cobras, for example).
There are aggressive, fearless and will attack almost anything.
It seems to fit the personality of this guy.
