There are been previous threads where the mutual intelligibility of the Scandinavian languages has been discussed. I'd like to get one particular calibration. I recently saw the Swedish movie "Män som hatar kvinnor". (As a beginner in Swedish I of course needed help from subtitles.) Have any of the Norwegians reading this seen any of the movies in this series? Assuming you have not studied Swedish, do you need subtitles in many places to help you understand the dialog? There are some formal conversations that I can imagine would be understandable to Norwegians, but often the speech is fast and colloquial and I would expect the oft-claimed mutual intelligibility between Swedish and Norwegian to break down. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. (I can read the Scandinavian languages just fine, and would actually prefer answers in your native language.) Thanks!
