On your marks, get set, go!

    Hello everyone,

    first time user of the site, thank you in advance for any help with this one...

    I'm putting together a Rio 2016 Olympics poster and wanted to know how a running race would be started in Brazil? Would it be a simple translation of the English 'Take your marks, set, go' or do they have their own phrase?

    In Brasil we say:

    "Em suas marcas... pronto... vai"

    Nunca ouvi a versão com "pronto(s)". Prefiro esta:
    Quando a competição for de tiro: "Preparar, apontar, fogo!"

    Não pus o "já" para evitar o diacrítico - sempre confundido com cocô de mosca, pelos falantes do inglês. :eek:
