Onomatopoeia of the fox

    Cats meow, dogs bow-wow, pigs oink. What about foxes?

    There's no standard, well-known fox sound in popular literature, but one of their vocalizations listed in Wikipedia is "Wow-wow-wow." :D

    We have kit foxes around our house, and I'd describe what I hear most often as a hoarse bark.

    Southern AE greatly modified by a 1st-generation Scottish-American mother, and growing up abroad.
    Yes, we bark, but not loquatiously-- that would ruin our rep for stealth. And you could say kits yip. Just don't get that tasty ear of yours too close to the matter, should you choose to approach the den and investigate for yourself.
