    Hello,

"..and a pinnace of seven tons."

A pinnace is a small auxiliary boat used as tender for larger ships. It could be propelled by oars, or rigged as a ship. Pinnaces saw widespread use in northern waters for their shallow draught.

The best match in Spanish that I've found is "pinaza".

Has anyone found a more precise word?

    Regards,

*Parece que la palabra "pinnace" viene del francés "pinace" y ésta a su vez del español "pinaza".

Thank you to both of you.

    "Pinaza" seems to settle it.
