    Hi,

Il poursuit, « le cinéma, pour le commun des spectateurs mortels… c’est forcément les inévitables images qui bougent donc c’est animé ! ».

my try: cinema, for any ordinary movie goer

I wonder if anyone has a translation that sounds better.

    Thanks.

    Hi
Woow ! "le commun des spectateurs mortels ?" Where is that from ?
I mean it sounds really weird in French, I would have understood "le commun des mortels" which is a common expression...

French journalist from the 50s, he's obviously playing with this expression

it's too bad that " for mere mortals going to the movies" sounds so strange in English

it would be great to also play with "mere mortal" in the translation

    @Larissa : I think you're mixing up « commun des mortels » and « simples mortels ».
In my opinion, "mere mortals" would be the latter. Le commun des mortels is this :

Weird that they decided to delete them.

Oh, I didn't know they had two similar expressions in French!
