Question on ○○対応 usage

Discussion in '日本語 (Japanese)' started by Xhris, Apr 18, 2014.

I'm translating a technical document (JA-EN) where the following construction happens in a bulleted list:

    - (something concerning design changes) - ○○機 対応
    - (same) ○○機 対応
    - (and so on)

How should I translate the 対応 here? Supported by equipment type X? Design changes applied to e.t. X? Any other ideas?

For example, "Windows 8 対応" in a spec sheet usually means "This product supports Windows 8".
If you're translating a changelog, I think you can replace it with the common phrase "Now supports X".

"Compatible" is not the same thing. That term usually corresponds to "互換".
    e.g. "IBM PC/AT互換" = IBM PC/AT compatible
