    Muchas gracias.

    Saludos,
    LN

En México es "El Registro Civil".

I would suggest that a better translation would be simply Civil Registry, since, to the best of my knowledge and belief, there is no such thing as a Demograhic Registry in any English-speaking country.

I would avoid the term "civil registry," which I believe is a calque. In my opinion, both Registro Civil and Registro Demográfico can be translated as Office of Vital Statistics or Bureau of Vital Statistics (your preference as to office or bureau) since that is how the institution is called in the U.S.

I believe you will find that Civil Registry is the usual term in the UK and other English-speaking countries outside the US, and possibly Canada.:)

Actually, I've just had a look at the Internet and discovered (my memory is failing) that in the UK this used to be known as the Register Office, but is now known as the Office for National Statistics. The page also refers to some of the other English-speaking countries where the name varies. -)
