Ruptura Irreparable

    Saludos! Existe una nueva causal de divorcio en Puerto Rico que se conoce como: Ruptura Irreparable, Cual seria la traduccion al Ingles de la misma? Encontre la siguiente: "Irrevocable Breakdown", pero no me parece apropiada. Alguien que ya haya tenido que realizar esta traduccion que pueda brindar sugerencias?? Gracias.

    "Irreparable break / rupture," pero muy comúnmente "irreconcilable differences." De todos modos, un "breakdown" es algo muy distinto.

    I would suggest "irremediable breakdown".

    In my state, Oregon, the reason for the divorce is an "irremediable breakdown" of the marriage--meaning that the marriage cannot be fixed. The reason for teh "irremediable breakdown" in Oregon is usually "irreconcilable differences." Other reasons include adultery, physical abuse, abandonment, etc. etc. These are rarely, if ever, alleged, however, because Oregon law does not give weight to who was at fault in causing the marriage to break down. So we just use "irreconcilable differences."
