Hello, I couldn't find any etymological dictionary on-line. Can anybody say what the origin of the Slovene word punca is? Is there are relation to the Bavarian word punze, punzen? Thanks.

The word comes from some Romanic source, which is related to latin word pullus 'young man', its cognates are Old Spanish puncella, french pucelle all meaning girl. The German word you mention comes from the same Romanic source. The dictionary sites the meanings of the German word vagina and girl and it also says that Kluge mentions it.
