    Hi. i am wondering how to say 'sorry if i made any mistake' in french. Please help me out. Thanks.

    By the way, i am new in this forum and there's a lot i don't know about. Sorry if i did something wrong.

    ok. I just started learning french like a few days ago. so forgive me if i had any mistakes. 'desole si je faire une erreur'. took me a while. i think this is direct translation and it is wrong?

    Welcome ozq. It depends on what kind of mistake you've made, so more context is always helpful. If you want to say I'm sorry if I made a mistake in French you could say:

    (Je suis) desolé(e) si j'ai fait une faute (en français)

    while if you want to say I'm sorry if I made a mistake about something else you could say:

    (Je suis) desolé(e) si j'ai fait/commis une erreur

    There are lots of other possibilities depending on your situation, so more context is always useful.

    i mean for example this sentence. (Je suis) desolé(e) si j'ai fait une faute (en français). Is there a need to bracket? i don't understand. sorry

    Sorry, the parentheses are just a shorthand way of indicating which parts of the sentence are optional. So you could say

    Je suis desolé si j'ai fait une faute or
    Desolé si j'ai fait une faute or
    Desolé si j'ai fait une faute en français

    or any other combination you like, assuming you are male. If you're female, replace desolé with desolée in all cases above.
