What's the best way to translate the expression 'alle spalle' when used in contexts like:

    'Continuano a sparlarmi alle spalle'
'Ha agito alle spalle del resto del gruppo'
    etc. etc.

"They keep talking about me behind my back"
"He acted/went behind the backs of the rest of the group".

    Si potrebbe rendere con "back-bite"?

I don't think so. We might sometimes call someone a back-stabber but that's stronger that just talking behind someone's back.

Back-biting = pettegolezzi maliziosi (secondo il dizionario WR). Però secondo me qui non ci sta, perché indica tutto un ambiente cattivo e malizioso: "There's been a lot of back-biting", "I don't like all the back-biting in this firm".
