Jag läste i en bok där man säger "bevare mig väl!"

Jag kunde tyvärr inte hitta ordet i ordboken. :(

    Vad betyder satsen?

Bevare is an old present tense in Swedish of bevara = keep, protect, and the form is today almost only used in old religious phrases, such as Bevare mig väl which means keep me safe, from the beginning a prayer to God to protect a person.

I think that bevare is either in subjunctive or imperative mood.

Bevare is indeed an old present subjunctive (Swedish - konjunktiv) form.

However, what should also be said is that this is an old fashioned expression used to express shock/surprise, rather than the actual "hope of preserving oneself".

    Lite samma som "Herregud!"?

Precis. But even more old fashioned.
