I was at a short gymnastics course, and firstly, we sat at a chair side by side. The teacher then wanted us to make rooms between each other so that we can stretch our legs and arms, without bothering the person who sat nearby. How can this be expressed in Swedish?

    These two are both fine:

But I like the first one best.

Instead of "utrymme", you can use "plats":

"Plats" is often used when the space can be used for something specific, such as stretching out your arms. It sounds more like "making room". But utrymme is also good if you like.

The third one sounds like instructions you would give to a robot. :) "de två parterna" is like something a lawyer would say in court. And "vidsträckt" sounds a little mathematical in this situation, it's better used when describing a house or a beach or something.

There are many possibilities, maybe others will have different suggestions.

Ps. In spoken language we often remove the "att". :)

"Sprid ut er (så att ni har plats att röra på er)!
