syndicat d'initiative

    usa english
    le syndicat d'initiative - What is this? I am under the impression that it is some sort of tourist agency in france but I have no idea.

    here is the sentance:
    Comme je ne connais pas le chemin, je vais frapper au le syndicat d'initiative

    it is a town's local tourist information bureau

    your sentence is a bit strange, normally you would say:

    je vais passer au syndicat d'initiative

    It's a visitors' bureau or tourist information office

    This is the same as Office of Tourism! (in French, we also say "office du tourisme" furthermore ;))

    "le syndicat d'initiative" is also called "l'office du tourisme", in English "the tourist office" :)
