terim motive ederken

    Hi,

    Please, what does "Terim motive ederken..."

    It was used in connection with football on Turkish TV.

    Without a full sentence, my best guess would be that Terim might be the coach Fatih Terim.
    'While Terim was motivating...'

    Thank you so much - indeed, if Terim is a name the phrase ceases to seem odd.

    Sorry about the lack of context, but what sense of the word 'motivating' do you think is the most probable?

    Is the most likely meaning perhaps "to encourage, to give a pep talk to"? Presumably for modern coaches, encouraging their football players, motivating them to play well is of ever-increasing importance.

    Yes, motive etmek is mostly used in the sense of to encourage; to lift someone's spirit; to give someone the will to go on and so on. 'To give motivation', basically.
