    Bonjour,

"A covered terrace with arcades overlooks the garden"???

    help.

Overlooking the garden is a patio with an arcaded roof over it (a suggestion)

A covered terrace supported by arches overlooks the garden.

For me a terrace supported by arches means that the arches are underneath the terrace.

    What about:
"A patio, covered by a roof that is supported by arcades, overlooks the garden"?
