When I saw one episode, it appeared a sentence of "the cheese stands alone". I don't understand what it means. Guess "odd"?

Can anybody explain the word pls? : )

    Thank you in advance

It's the last line of an old nursery rhyme called The Farmer in the Dell. Children play it in a circle, where everybody starting with the farmer picks somebody to come into the centre. The rat is the last character in the song:

    ....the rat takes the cheese.....
    ....the cheese stands alone.

The song is done and the cheese doesn't pick anybody else to join in.

I hope that this makes some sense to you. :p

By the way, welcome to the forum!
