    Türkçeye çeviremem, but this is an unusual sentence in English and is somewhat literary or poetic. A person might climb 'assiduously' up a hill, but a house can't climb assiduously in normal speech. I would interpret this as somehow implying that there are many houses along the road or roads going up to the church tower.
