The plan was bound to derail (?)

    Hola,
    Qusiera saber si se puede decir "el plan estaba destinado a fracasar" de la siguiente forma:
    The plan was bound to derail.

    "The plan was bound to go off the rails" sería mejor, aunque hay varias alternativas (bound to fail, bound to be a disaster, etc.).

    I prefer bound to derail over the alternatives that have been given. Sounds fine to me.

    Yes, the more I look at it the more I agree with you. It's probably not the most likely choice in US usage, but it's perfectly fine.
