Hello, I can't figure out how to translate "The reason for doing x". I have come up with "la raison pour laquelle nous faisons / on fait x" but I think there must be a shorter way of saying. I tried "la raison pour faire" but I get barely any hits on Google so I don't think this is very good.

To give an example sentence : "The reason for using this method is that it is faster".

    Thank you!

Nous faisons ça parce que c'est plus facile, moins cher, plus beau....
Nous recourons à cette méthode parce que c'est plus rapide.

Ok, so no way to keep "la raison" with a short sentence ? Thanks. :)

Je suis vraiment une débutante en français mais can't we do something like this:

La raison pourquoi nous le faisons est que c'est plus rapide.

My French isn't that good to judge if la raison pour faire is the best way to translate your phrase but I got over 24.000 for une raison pour faire and over 700.000 hits for une raison pour using Google search engine. Perhaps, this would work for you.

La raison pour laquelle nous le faisons est que c'est plus rapide.
    That would be correct.

There could be a way, but I didn't find it...;)

I would turn the sentence around and say "on utilise cette méthode car c'est la plus rapide", but you always use fewer words in English than you do in French, so its not surprising you end up with a sentence twice as long in French

J'aime bien ta solution. AMA il faut faire un effort de concision en traduisant...
