the repercussions of the occupation

    Salam alaykum,

    I cannot find the right idiomatic expression to translate the following :

    the repercussions of the occupation are still being felt today.

    لا تزال محسوسة آثار الاحتلال اليوم

    I want the repercussions to have a negative connotation- is there a more appropriate word than آثار?
    Any suggestions :)

    Maybe : ما زالت الآثار السلبية للاحتلال محسوسة اليوم

    عواقب الاحتلال لا تزال تُحَس اليوم

    There is more in Arabic: مضاعفات، تداعيات
    But I like عواقب in this context!

    ما زالت تبعات الاحتلال محسوسة ليومنا هذا .

    لم تخطر ببالي تبعات، وهي كذلك ملائمة، شكرا
    كل هذه المحاولات تدل على نسبية الترجمة وغنى اللغة العربية
    ثم أضفتَ : إلى يومنا هذا
    :)ربما أيضا : حتى يومنا هذا، حتى هذا اليوم، إلى هذا اليوم...ـ
