Please pardon my total ignorance, as I have very little contact with Spanish people. I understand the concept of vosotros (although I don't know how to conjugate it ) but I was wondering two things: If you are adressing a crowd that includes both your peers and your superiors, elders, or other people of respect, do you use ustedes? Do you ever use ustedes? If so, when? I am wondering because during the two weeks that I spent in Spain, the newscasters always addressed the audience as vosotros, and when dining in an all-adult group, as far as I remember, the waiters always addressed us as vosotros. Does ustedes ever get used in Spain? If vosotros is the plural of you informal, I would imagine that ustedes would be used from time to time, but I never heard it. Thank you for any clarification.
