    I could see this hurt her. I still remember the way she'd look after such an insult: Eyes cast down, a little gut-kicked, as if , having just been reminded of her place in things, she was trying , as much as possible, to disappear.

    she'd look after = she would look after ??

    这里的look after是什么意思?

    這裡的look和after是分開的:
    I still remember (the way she'd look) (after such an insult)

    She'd=She would
    這個would相當於used to, 指過去常做/發生的事

    例如名曲Yesterday Once More的歌詞:
    When I was young I'd listen to the radio...
