To make ends meet and to get by, both mean to pay all living expenses in a given period, most likely at the end of the month, when rent is due. Is there a Russian equivalent to these two expressions?

The Russian equivalent to 'make ends meet' is exactly the same: сводИть концЫ с концАми. As to 'get by', one may say 'выживАть' (lit. to survive).
