Well, isn't a paddy an Irishman? In what context is the expression used?
'Piquer use crise de colère' OR 'se mettre en rogne'
it must be BE. Saying this to an AE speaker would leave us clueless! (Plus there are so many Irish-Americans that casting aspersions on the Irish is not too popular)
AE: throw a fit, have a conniption, go nuts/berserk
