    Hi,

I really can't translate this sentence (part of a list)
    - ....
    - trade-distorting support payments the government makes to xxx

    I have no proposal, sorry

    The context is international trade.

    THANKS

In this context, "support payments" are some form of subsidy, presumably to domestic producers of a good or service. They distort trade because they prevent the lowest-cost country from getting as much of the international business as it otherwise would.

I'm not sure I can help much with the best way to convey this concept in French, however. :(

Perhaps something along the lines of:
"des subventions qui altérent le commerce...."?

I know this is an old topic, but in case someone is still looking for an answer, the expression used by the WTO in French is "effets de distorsion sur les échanges".
