Urdu: jii nahiiN kahaa jaataa?

    "yih haaN haaN kyaa hotaa hae, maulavii SaaHib saaNp kii tarh phunkaare"-" jii nahiiN kahaa jaataa, suvar kahiiN ke!"
    (shahaabnaamah, p.24)
    What does "jii nahiN kahaa jaataa" mean?

    jii nahiiN kahaa jaataa?

    Can you not say "jii [haaN]"? (as opposed haaN only)

    You must have heard of a Talat Mahmood song.."ham se aayaa nah gayaa..un se bulaayaa nah gayaa". Same sense but in the past.

    Also, it is "su'ar kahiiN ke" where the apostrophe is a hamzah.
