    Muchas gracias!

In government agencies, "inspector general." In business, maybe "oversight officer. Don't say "overseer," which sounds like the slave driver on a plantation, not the impression you want to give. Perhaps "auditor" if in a financial context.

Thanks very much, but I'm not sure if any of those is perfect. Auditor is the same role in a different context (they check over the accounting for anomalies, but they are an external person or business, whereas the "vigilante" can be a shareholder or even a member of the board). Inspector general could be the right term. Can anyone confirm that for me?

    Thanks,
    Stefan
