    Hi all,
How do I say this in French "and then we got home to this".

"Et on est rentré à ça"
    ?

This expression means that you just got home and something had happened out of any expectation: e.g. a package was delivered to you, the house has been decorated, etc.

I was also thinking of using "sur" but I could be wrong.
    Thanks in advance!

I think there is no direct translation.

    ----Edit :
If the thing/action is already explained in the sentence, you can translate the "to this" by "cela":

(to convey the element of surprise).

    Hi,

I'd say On est rentré, et on est tombé sur ça.

Thanks all for your replies. As for Oddmania's reply, I think that's what I've heard before, it explains why I was kinda "looking for" that expression again.
I think this will also work :).
