    Witam wszystkich serdecznie!

Czy mógłby ktoś ocenić poprawność tłumaczenia poniższego zdania na polski?

With lots of Romanian trips under my belt, I was certain that we were close enough to the border that two men hitchhiking together would not be a problem, and so it proved.

Mając za sobą mnóstwo wycieczek po Rumunii, byłem pewny, iż jesteśmy wystarczająco blisko granicy, że dwoje mężczyzn jadących razem autostopem nie będzie stanowić problemu i okazało się to prawdą.

Dziękuję. Źródło: Termin ten pochodzi Dwumiesięcznika English Matters "London - Painting the town red. Na stronie 40, w drugiej kolumnie, przechodzącej w trzecią, jest zdanie, o którym mowa. With lots of Romanian trips under my belt, I was certain that we were close enough to the border that two men hitchhiking together would not be a problem, and so it proved.

Yes, this is what it means, although I don't like the English sentence at all.

The exprssion above is only slightly awkward and any English speaker would understand exactly what you are saying.
If you wanted to try to improve it maybe consider something like...

With lots of trips to Romania under my belt I was sure that, being so close to the border, two men hitchhiking together would not be a problem, and (in fact or indeed) this proved to be the case.

Well, most English speakers would understand it, but it is not really a properly constructed sentence.
