write out - extender un cheque

Discussion in 'Spanish-English Grammar / Gramática Español-Inglés' started by domingoolivares, Aug 19, 2013.

  1. Buenas,

Mi pregunta era si la siguiente traducción al inglés es correcta:

¿Por que cantidad extendiste el cheque? - Lo extendí por 100 euros a nombre de Tim

    Mi intento es el siguiente:

    - What amount did you write out the cheque for? - I wrote it out for one hundred euros payable to Tim

    Gracias,

It's correct but I would say.

What was the amount that you wrote the check out for? - I wrote it out for one hundred euros payable to Tim.

Let's see if others agree. Maybe I'm just using British English.

I'd say the same thing. Chances are I'd also say: How much did you write out the cheque for? because it's quicker than what was the amount.
